Egypt beat Djibouti to book World Cup spot

Egypt sealed their place at the 2026 FIFA World Cup with a 3–0 victory against Djibouti in Casablanca.

The result guaranteed top spot in Group A for the Pharaohs with a match to spare. Ibrahim Adel opened the scoring before Mohamed Salah struck twice to confirm a fourth appearance on football’s biggest stage for the seven-time African champions.

Meanwhile, Hossam Hassan became the first Egyptian to reach the World Cup as both player and coach. The legendary striker scored the winning goal for Egypt against Algeria to lead them to the 1990 World Cup ending at a 56-year wait.

Egypt conclude their qualifying campaign with a match against Guinea-Bissau at Cairo International Stadium on Saturday.
