Egypt kicked off their Under-17 Africa Cup of Nations campaign with a 0-0 draw against Ethiopia.
The group A match was hosted by the Mohammed VI Football Academy in the northwestern city of Salé.
The junior pharaohs are aiming for a place in this year’s FIFA Under-17 World Cup in Qatar.
Ten of the 16 teams taking part in this year’s finals in Morocco will qualify to the global tournament.
Next for Egypt is a match against Tunisia on Saturday, before facing hosts Morocco on May 19.
Egypt’s sole triumph in this competition came in 1997, when they defeated Mali 1–0 in the final.
