Mostafa Ziko scored on his international debut as Egypt defeated Russia 1-0 in Cairo as part of their preparations for the 2026 FIFA World Cup.
Egypt started brightly, with Emam Ashour, Trezeguet and Omar Marmoush all involved in early attempts, but the first half ended goalless despite the hosts looking the more threatening side.
Russia came close shortly after the break, forcing Mohamed El Shenawy into a good save after he had replaced Mostafa Shoubir at half-time.
The only goal arrived in the 65th minute when Mohamed Hany delivered from the right and Mostafa Ziko headed in to score on his first appearance for Egypt.
