Pyramids beat Auckland City 3-0 in Cairo to reach the second round of the FIFA Intercontinental Cup.
The Cairo-based club made history as only the second Egyptian side to feature in a FIFA club competition, after Al Ahly.
Walid El Karti gave the hosts an early lead, slotting home Ewerton’s left-wing cross at the far post.
Substitute Marwan Hamdy doubled the score in the 74th minute, heading in Mohamed Hamdy’s cross from the left.
Just two minutes after coming on as a substitute, Mostafa Ziko sealed victory five minutes from time, drilling a low finish into the far corner.
The African champions now face AFC Champions League Elite winners Al Ahli in Jeddah on 23 September, with the winner to be crowned African–Asian–Pacific Cup champions.
