U-17 Africa Cup of Nations: Egypt through to semis

Egypt eased to a 4-1 victory against Ivory Coast to reach the semi-finals of the Under-17 Africa Cup of Nations.

The match was played at the training grounds of the Mohammed VI Football Academy in Salé, Morocco.

Khaled Moukhtar scored twice, either side of Ahmed Beshir’s goal, as Egypt went into half-time with a commanding 3-0 lead.

Broulaye Cissé pulled one back for Ivory Coast from the penalty spot early in the second half, but substitute Ziad Saoudi sealed victory for the Junior Pharaohs with a late goal.

Egypt will now face Tanzania on Thursday, while hosts Morocco take on Senegal in the other semi-final.

Head coach Hussein Abdel-Latif is hoping to lead Egypt to their first continental title at this level since 1997.

Egypt have already secured their place at the 2026 FIFA Under-17 World Cup. The event will take place in Qatar later this year. The draw placed them in Group A alongside the hosts, Panama and Greece.
